In 2002, writing for Richmond.com Colleen Curran offered: "...Richmond's one and only repertory theater locked its doors for the last time back in 1987. It's never opened them again. No more midnight showings of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' or 'Reefer Madness.' But this sucker's got spirit. On Sunday night, former staff members and fans of the Biograph are throwing a blowout birthday party for the 30-year-old theater, whether it's still taking tickets or not."
